Does the parable of the cooked frog ring a bell? Immerse a frog in boiling water and it will react immediately to escape. Conversely, raising the temperature gradually will let itself die without even struggling. ( NETFLIX)
Netflix has, it seems, opted for this strategy to “cook” its users slowly, so as not to scare them away.
A new price increase has thus been announced in the United States: the Basic package goes to $9.99 (+1 dollar), the Standard to $15.49 ( +1.5 dollar ), and the Premium reaches 19.99. $ (+2 dollars).
As a result, in the space of 8 years, the price of subscriptions has increased by up to 72%.
For its part, Netflix always justifies itself in the same way by indicating that the objective is to improve content: “ We understand that people have more entertainment choices than ever, and we are committed to providing an even better experience. to our members. We are updating our prices so that we can continue to offer a wide variety of quality entertainment options ”.
As a reminder, Netflix’s profit in the 2nd quarter of 2021 was $1.35 billion.
